A Victorian insect brooch, being multi-stone set with a band of yellow diamonds to centre. Having a large cabochon amethyst body, topaz head, one diamond set tentacle and the other with a replacement coloured stone.
The eyes are rubies and the wings are set with turquoise. Normal brooch fastening with safety chain. It is unmarked but tests as 18ct gold.
An exquisite piece, it weighs 10.7 grams.
