Catalogue note
After John Constable, an oil on canvas of a landscape depicting shepherds and sheep beside a bridge with a farm beyond. It is framed in a very elaborate and good 19th Century gilt swept frame.
This painting was found in Suffolk where I live, and the scenery in this oil is very similar to the area around Flatford Mill where Constable painted the Hay Wain and many other famous works.
The painting is very skilfully executed and atmospheric with the stormy sky.
In good condition.
Circa 1820-30
The frame measures 84cm X 68cm
The actual painting measures 50cm X 36
