Catalogue note
This lovely Jaobean box has a beautiful patina and until recently has been in the same family for several generations.
The front is heavily carved with foliage. The top of the lid has signs of wear but it is stable, strong and doesn't move. The patina on the lid is fabulous after years of being polished and nurtured Thankfully, no attempt at "renovating" has ever been attempted.
The stand which looks to have been made in Victorian times is sturdy and matches the colour of the box perfectly.
A lovely Mediaeval piece. Circa 1620
